A man who wants to lose weight badly, will often wonder what life would be like if he were to shed his fat, and become the fit guy that he ultimately envisions.
Will life be that much different? Will the rewards be worth the effort?
My answer from personal experience is yes! Your life will change for the better in so many ways after losing a significant amount of weight.
Each of us has own unique set of circumstances and reasons for wanting to get in shape, and so of course we will each experience our own unique rewards, but many of the benefits are shared among all of us.
Looking forward to a life filled with more confidence, energy, and opportunity, is something that you can absolutely bank on if you see your journey through.
A better love life
Let’s be honest, this is one of the first things that comes to mind when it comes to losing weight, and one of our biggest motivators in weight loss (even though we don’t always say it).
If you’re not wondering how weight loss will affect your dating life, then you’re most certainly wondering how it will affect your marriage life.
Dating will be easier
So if you’re a single and overweight guy, the question “If I lose weight, will it improve my dating life?” no doubt crosses your mind quite a bit.
Attraction is a big source of motivation for lots of people, even if they don’t say it outright.
Deep down you know the answer is an absolute yes, but when doubt sometimes sinks in, it can be good to hear it said outright.
Yes, losing weight will improve your dating life!
Don’t get me wrong, it’s no magic bullet, and as a man you’ll always face lots of rejection… you still have to work on your confidence (even though it comes much easier when you are fit), and you still have to work to meet new people and keep your social circle alive… but your “chances” or your experiences will be much better in the dating world in general after working towards a healthy body.
You’ll feel a bit more comfortable approaching women (and maybe even get approached too), lots more confident in conversation, and much less nervous on dates.
Confidence will naturally reflect outwards in the way that you carry yourself, simply because you feel better about yourself, the way your clothes fit… and of course the accomplishment of change that you carry with you.
At least, this is how I feel and how losing 80 pounds affected me personally, and it just makes sense that others would experience the same.
Enjoying life with your wife
The other half of guys, who are married, likely wonder how weight loss could improve the quality of life in marriage. If your wife is in good shape in comparison to yourself, it can cause a bit of stress.
Some men will feel like the relationship is being held back by their weight, due to differences in ability, energy, and even performance/confidence in bed.
Further stress and worry can come into the relationship if one or both of you are seriously concerned about your health, and it becomes a frequent and stressful conversation.
Losing weight and becoming a healthier you can make a huge difference in this situation. Just imagine how great it would feel to live an active and energetic life with your spouse, and being an all-around confident man both in everyday life, and in bed? Getting in shape can only make life more enjoyable and more fulfilling, there is no downside.
Being more active with your kids
This is another wide and serious concern among overweight men… not being able to keep up with the kids and be the active dad that you want to be.
I cherish the countless times that my dad and I would play basketball, race each other on foot, play catch, and ride bikes together.
I would never want anyone to feel as though they were trapped on the sideline of their own children’s life, unable to do these kinds of activities with their kids.
If you are reading this and happen to be in this situation, know that things can change so fast with a healthy diet and a bit of exercise on a consistent basis.
In a year’s time you could be up to 100 pounds lighter, and living a whole new type of life!
Living a fuller life
Being in shape can open a world of opportunities in life, both in being able to physically do more activities, and also in allowing yourself to do things that previously made you uncomfortable.
When the weight comes off you get lighter, smaller, more agile and more resilient… and your improved physical ability allows you to live your life to the fullest.
You can travel more easily and with less pain walking, you can explore hiking trails, and when someone invites you to go swimming you can say yes.
You won’t ever need to feel like life is leaving you behind.
More job opportunities
For one, being in shape obviously means being able to take on more active job positions that require a certain level of fitness.
Also, the confidence that comes along with your transformation will extend to your job interviews which makes a huge difference in your chances of being hired for any position.
Last, and although we don’t like to admit it, confidence aside, our appearance and state of health can affect our opportunities to be promoted or selected for a position.
I can’t say that I know what goes through the mind of people that make things operate in this way, but it’s a real thing that does happen and a real concern for overweight men who see themselves overlooked in the workplace, just like the dating world.
More happiness and health for yourself!
From seeing the man you want to see in the mirror every morning, sleeping better, waking with energy and springing out of bed, living a pain free life, to being able to travel or easily do things that you once found painful or difficult, the rewards that come with weight loss are incredible things to look forward to.
It’s hard to describe what people who have experienced weight loss success mean when they say, “I just FEEL better.” It’s a feeling that comes in nearly every moment, and it’s composed of many things that make you feel better, happier, and more confident on a daily basis.
Living a happier life after weight loss applies to everyone, but I can personally speak for how amazingly profound it is for a man to transform himself from obese to fit. It feels amazing, pure and simple!
